After a few years, several of the blocks had cracked, so my block steps were not the best. In addition, the deck between the garage and the house needed to be replaced. When the previous owners replaced the deck with a wider one, they never replaced the deck between the garage and the house. So it only ran to about the middle of the new steps. I had placed some temporary decking, but it all needed to be replaced. Well I finally got around to it. The new deck between the garage and house is larger, and much better.
When we moved to this house, the only way to get down to the lower part of the back yard was to climb down the rocks. To make it easier, using some blocks the previous owners had left, I built this steps.
Who is that in the picture? What is she doing? Yes that is Cathy being the Train Engineer on the Storybook Line. She is working at Storybook Island and one of the things she does is drive the train. To see a larger version of the photo, click on it. As you can see from the smile on her face, she is really enjoying it. Or is that just her way of acting like she doesn’t know the “weirdo” taking the picture.
So if you get to Storybook Island this summer, and you have someone small enough to ride the train, you just might know the Engineer.
